The Jigawa Manpower Development Institute (MDI) has organised a one-day capacity-building workshop for 40 library officers drawn from various sectors across the state, focusing on e-library operations and digital resource management.
Declaring the workshop open, the Director-General of MDI, Alhaji Umar Faruk Wada, said the training was aimed at equipping participants with up-to-date skills in modern library administration to meet the demands of digitalisation and emerging technologies.
“This initiative aligns with our mandate to enhance manpower standards and competencies in both the public and private sectors within Jigawa and the country at large,” he said.
Wada explained that the programme was part of the institute’s continuous effort to strengthen the knowledge and efficiency of librarians for improved service delivery.
“Libraries have always been sanctuaries for preserving knowledge, and librarians remain central to safeguarding and providing access to these resources for public use,” he noted.
Participants were drawn from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), private organisations, and government-owned and independent media establishments.
The workshop featured presentations on key areas including Government and Administration in Library Practices, the Functions of Government Libraries, Digital Libraries and Comparative Analysis, Collection Development, and Dissemination
