The Jigawa State Hajj Welfare Board has successfully concluded the medical screening of all intending pilgrims from the state ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The exercise, which is a mandatory requirement for participation in the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, was conducted across designated centres in the state to ensure that only medically fit pilgrims embark on the spiritual journey.
Overseeing the screening process, the Director General of the Board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, confirmed that all intending pilgrims from Jigawa State met the stipulated health requirements.
He explained that the exercise was carried out in compliance with the directive of the National Hajj and Umrah Commission of Saudi Arabia, which mandates that only healthy individuals are permitted to perform Hajj this year.
According to him, the directive is aimed at safeguarding the well-being of pilgrims and ensuring a hitch-free pilgrimage.
Alhaji Labbo commended the medical team for conducting the screening professionally and diligently, noting that the process was thorough and transparent.
He further disclosed that no payments were collected from any of the intending pilgrims for the medical screening, as the Jigawa State Hajj Welfare Board fully sponsored the exercise.
“This is part of our commitment to ensuring that our pilgrims are adequately prepared, both spiritually and medically, for the Hajj,” he said.
The Director General also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, for providing the necessary support and resources that enabled the board to carry out its responsibilities effectively.
He assured that the board would continue to put in place measures to guarantee the comfort, safety, and welfare of Jigawa pilgrims throughout the 2026 Hajj operations.
