In the rural communities of Kirikasamma Local Government Area, Jigawa State, a sense of excitement and hope fills the air. Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s recent visit to the area, where he flagged off a major road construction project and commissioned a power project, has brought renewed optimism to the residents.
For years, the people of Tarabu, Matarar Alhazai, Malanta, Sawo-Iyo, Gishinawo, and Gafta have struggled with poor road infrastructure, hindering their ability to transport goods and access essential services.
The new 23.4-kilometer road project, worth ₦17.28 billion, promises to revolutionize the lives of thousands in the local government.
“I’ve lived in this village all my life, and I’ve never seen a project that will benefit our community like this one,” said Hadiza Suleiman, a local trader. “The road will make it easier for us to transport our goods to market, and we’ll be able to sell more, increasing our income.”
The power project, which connects nine villages to the national grid, has also brought immense joy to the residents. “We’ve been in darkness for too long,” said Alhaji Aliyu, a resident of Tage village. “This power project will enable us to work late into the night, and our children will be able to study after sunset. It’s a blessing from God.”
Governor Namadi’s commitment to improving the lives of Jigawa State residents is evident in his administration’s efforts to provide critical infrastructure.
The Citizens Engagement Programme, which brought the governor to Kirikasamma, provides a platform for residents to interact with government officials and express their needs.
As the road construction project progresses, residents are eager to see the transformation it will bring. “We’re grateful to Governor Namadi for choosing our community,” said Lawan Musa, a local farmer. “We promise to support the government and make the most of these projects.”
The story of Kirikasamma’s development is a testament to the impact of effective governance and community engagement.
As the state continues to progress, the people of Jigawa remain hopeful that their lives will be improved by the initiatives of their government.
