A former spokesperson to the immediate past Governor of Jigawa State, Bello Muhammad Zaki, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Zaki, a resident of Unguwar Gabas in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State, announced his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of NNPP in Unguwar Gabas Ward, dated January 1, 2026.
In the letter, he said his decision followed wide consultations with his family members, relatives, supporters and well-wishers.
He explained that he resigned from the NNPP with immediate effect in order to align with like-minded individuals in the ADC, describing the move as a major New Year resolution.
He further wished the leadership and members of the NNPP a happy and prosperous New Year, appreciating the cooperation and support he enjoyed while in the party.
Bello Muhammad Zaki also attached his NNPP membership card to the resignation letter, in line with party procedures.
Political observers believe his defection to the ADC could have implications for the political landscape of Kazaure Local Government Area and Jigawa State at large, considering his experience in political communication and party activities.
