The Chairman of Dutse Local Government Area and Chairman of the Association of Local Government Councils of Nigeria (ALGON), Jigawa State chapter, Malam Sibu Abdullahi, has dismissed allegations linking the state’s 27 local government chairmen to the sponsorship of a controversial song by popular singer Danzaki Burum-burum, describing the claims as “false and misleading.”
In a statement issued on April 9, 2026, Abdullahi said neither he nor any of his colleagues had knowledge of, or involvement in, the production or promotion of the song, which has generated public debate.
“We categorically state that these allegations are entirely untrue and should be disregarded by the public,” he said.
The ALGON chairman also addressed concerns over the reported delay in local government access to funds over the past three months, clarifying that the development was not related to any financial misconduct.
According to him, the situation stems from an accountability and verification process introduced by the state government to strengthen transparency in public finance management.
He further noted that Governor Umar Namadi had not indicted any of the local government chairmen during the period under review, a development he said underscores their commitment to prudent administration.
Abdullahi also rejected allegations that the chairmen were contributing ₦50 million under a purported “Adashe” arrangement or engaging in any form of financial impropriety, insisting that such claims are baseless.
“We remain open to scrutiny and will not hesitate to seek legal redress against individuals or groups spreading defamatory information aimed at tarnishing our image,” he warned.
Reaffirming their support for the state government, Abdullahi said the 27 council chairmen remain loyal to Governor Namadi and aligned with his development agenda.
He highlighted ongoing projects across local government areas, including the construction of boreholes, schools, and other community-based initiatives, which he described as evidence of grassroots development.
The ALGON chairman also congratulated the governor on his 63rd birthday, commending his leadership and ongoing efforts to attract developmental initiatives to Jigawa State.
He called on residents to disregard misinformation and continue to support the administration in its drive for peace, unity, and sustainable development.
